I
We're sitted in benches, row, soft yellow
The morning is wide, clear is the sky, even for tomorrow
Dumb was I, not speaking a word
I silently sit, alone, in one corner, unheard
The chit-chats I try to hear,
Sitting alone, but I have no fear
Voices high and low, sometimes sweet and slow.
Of English Department, Bodoland University
A place with no adversity
A closed rectangle shaped room
Jaundiced wall. Rose petals perfume.
Darkened boards, calligraphy white letters, chalk written,
Dustered half sentences, of English History of Britain.
The Lectern still waiting,
The great scholar. To do his lecturing.
Teach a lesson, of English literature and history, and poetry.
II
Room filled with peoples, from far and near
Dressed in Dokhnas, Suridars, Pants and Shirts, neat, and smart they appear
Together focused to one goal
Joining hands, to share and learn, heart and soul.
Bodo, Assamese, Rabha, Mising, and Koch
Hindu-Muslim-Christians, all we approach
A fix unity, even in diversity
We're one, the Department of English, in Bodoland University
III
There will be a time coming
When everyone here should be going
Back, from where they came, learned
To prepare and to face with what they have earned
One day, all will once miss this place
Which we do very close to our heart, embrace.
Our Department of English
One day in our life, we'll surely miss
And, I'll miss, those pair of eyes
Which I mutely notice
IV
I looked out for once through the glass window
I fixed my visions to the sky above and green fields below
Bulging clouds hovering in the sky
Clear blue, up above so high...
So high, The English department, we count on it
Very close to our heart, it do fit
We're family here, to learn and to love and to be friends
We're family here, joyfully we do, time we spends
Learning new ideas, new concepts
New philosophies we do accepts
We're family here. one and only one
We're happy here, to live, in happiness and have fun.
